MALT supports the Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP).
BJCP sets the guidelines by which we run the Blue Ridge Brew Off. We encourage club members to study for the BJCP exam and become certified. We also encourage BJCP certified judges to volunteer for BRBO and the CBoY competitions to earn BJCP points. By learning the BJCP style guidelines, one becomes a better informed beer taster. By learning how to brew to the BJCP style guidelines, one develops better control over the many factors that go into brewing and in turn becomes a better brewer!
Beer Competitions are looking for BJCP Judges!
Steve Morgan, our resident BJCP judging instructor, will hold the monthly BJCP training session. It’s a great opportunity to improve your palate and your brews. Steve does a fine job of preparing people for the BJCP test but it’s worthy for anyone to sit in to expand your beer knowledge. Training is held at 6pm right before our monthly meeting.
